Team Bulgaria
The Bulgarian science team of the Well@school project includes Public Health and Nursing specialists Assoc. Prof. Gergana Petrova, PhD, senior Assist. Prof. Valentina Lalova, PhD and lecturer Svetla Ivanova, which are members of the Department of Nursing care, Faculty of Public Health, Medical University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The team is dedicated to and has professional expertise in the field of promotion of health and youth mental health. They share the belief that promotion of mental health in children and adolescence as well as prevention, are exceptionally important for societal health.
Assoc. Prof. Gergana Petrova, PhD
Gergana Petrova is associated professor in the Department of Nursing care, Faculty of Public Health, Medical University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. She is Head of postgraduate specialization of Public Health for Nurse and Midwifery in Medical University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria and a Chair of State Exam`s commission of postgraduate specialization of Public Health for Nurse and Midwifery. She is an associate professor of Public Health. Her area of expertise includesChild’s Nursing, where she has 9 years work experience in the Clinic of Pediatric University Hospital “St. George”, Plovdiv. She’s a specialist in medical education, public healthcare, health promotion, adolescent mental health, nursing and health care. She is a lecturer of students in the Nursing specialty, in Children’s care and health promotion. She is the Head for Medical University of Plovdiv in 2 International projects on Simulation Education for Nurses.
Senior Assist. Prof. Valentina Lalova, PhD
Valentina Lalova is a Public Health specialist and a Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing Care, Faculty of Public Health, Medical University – Plovdiv, Bulgaria, as well as the person in charge of Health and Safety at work; @education; EUPHA coordinator for Medical University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. She holds a Master’s degree in Management of Health care and a PhD in the field of Intensive Care Nursing. She has been a reanimation nurse in Intensive Care Unit, University Hospital for Active Treatment “St. George” EAD for 3 years, She has a clinical practice in Portugal and Teaching Mobilities in Slovenia, Greece, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain. She’s working in 2 International projects on Simulation Education for Nurses.
Lecturer Svetla Ivanova
Svetla Ivanova is a lecturer in the Department of Nursing Care, Faculty of Public Health in the Medical University of Plovdiv. She is an EUPHA member with a Master’s degree in Management of Health care. She specializes in Public Health. Part of her biography includes working as a Pediatric Intensive care nurse specialist in “St. George” University hospital, Plovdiv from 2015 until now. In the period before that she has been working part time as a scrub nurse as well as a nurse in Gastroenterology ward from 2014 to 2016.
Darena Georgieva
Darena is working in the department of International Relations and Project Activity in the Medical University of Plovdiv as an administrator and communication expert. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Fine arts and a postgraduate qualification in Pedagogy in art. She is also a PhD student in the field of Art Studies. She has been working as project coordinator and administrator in cultural projects and art organizations. She is interested in practices of using art as means for therapy and mental health improvement. She is the contact person for Medical University of Plovdiv in the Well@school project.
