Within the framework of the Well@School project, all partners conducted focus groups in March and April 2021 to assess the situation and needs in the area of mental health promotion in primary schools. At the University of Novo mesto Faculty of Health Sciences (Slovenia) two focus groups were conducted with 16 pedagogical and health professionals. Preliminary results show that the most common problem of primary school children is low self-esteem. Teachers and health professionals pointed out that they do not have enough time to carry out mental health promotion and would like additional knowledge and support in this area. Despite the fact that they would like more time for interpersonal conversations between children and professionals, a digital application that includes a competency framework, an online course, and a handbook would be very useful.
